Now available on the SALTO Platform, Stepping Stones is an easy-to-use Genially resource that introduces TCAs in a clear, accessible and structured way. It supports both potential participants and National Agencies by offering a shared, ready-made explanation of

what TCAs are, why they matter, and how to get involved.

Why Stepping Stones?

For many potential participants, TCAs are often the first encounter with Erasmus+ – yet they can appear complex, fragmented or difficult to navigate. At the same time, National Agencies and TCA Officers work with very different levels of capacity and communication resources when promoting TCAs nationally. Stepping Stones was created to respond to both realities. It provides a common entry point that:

  • explains TCAs in plain language,
  • situates them clearly within the Erasmus+ programme and its priorities,
  • and guides newcomers step by step towards participation via the SALTO platform.

What does the resource cover?

The Stepping Stones Genially walks users through the essentials of TCAs, including:

  • What TCAs are and how they function as transnational training and cooperation formats within Erasmus+
  • Who TCAs are for – from complete newcomers to experienced participants
  • Erasmus+ priorities and how TCAs contribute to inclusion, digital transformation, sustainability, participation in democratic life and programme quality
  • Who is behind TCAs – the roles of National Agencies, SALTO Resource Centres and the European Commission
  • How to join a TCA, with clear guidance on national-level application and SALTO platform registration
  • What participants gain, from learning and networking to long-term impact on projects and policies

The resource also highlights that a TCA is never just a single event, but part of a wider European cooperation ecosystem where each participation contributes to the quality and impact of the programme as a whole.

A practical tool for National Agencies and TCA Officers

Beyond supporting individuals, Stepping Stones was intentionally designed as a plug-and-play promotional tool for National Agencies.

We actively encourage:

  • National Agencies,
  • TCA Officers,
  • Priority SALTO teams

to freely use and share this resource on their own websites, newsletters, social media channels and information pages dedicated to TCAs.

For agencies with limited capacity for content creation, Stepping Stones can be taken over and reused as it is, ensuring that all potential participants – regardless of country or context – receive consistent, high-quality information about TCAs.

Explore and share: Stepping Stones is now publicly available on the SALTO Platform!

We invite all National Agencies and TCA stakeholders to:

  • integrate this resource into their national communication strategies,
  • share it with potential applicants,
  • and use it to strengthen newcomers’ pathways into Erasmus+.
