European Conference on Living and Teaching European Values Today
Summary of TCA outcomes
More than 200 teachers and school representatives from 22 countries attended the European Conference "Living and Teaching European Values Today" in Weimar. Workshops and project presentations provided participants with practical tips and tools for integrating democratic principles, media literacy, historical awareness and critical thinking into the classroom and Erasmus project work.
Participants learned how to empower students to actively engage in democratic processes. Additionally, the conference offered networking opportunities to find partner schools and initiate new Erasmus+ projects (mobility projects, cooperation projects, eTwinning projects, etc.).
During the conference, we endeavoured to provide a mix of theory and practice. The schedule for the event, including plenary presentations and workshops, can be found on the event page. The conference programme is available via this link.
After the conference we sent a feedback-link to all participants. The result was a high satisfaction of all participants. Points of criticism (e.g. more efficient partner search, more time for exchange) will be included as lessons learnt into the following events of the NA DE (03).
Conference participants:
- learnt from best practice projects from France, Italy and Poland presented in the plenary session and understand what makes a good quality project (concepts for learning mobility and blended mobility, thematic cooperation projects on the eTwinning-platform)
- gained insight into the diversity of projects (project presentation session) and ideas for future projects
- received lots of practical tips and pedagogical ideas for the classroom and everyday work during workshops closely linked to the topic of democracy
- learnt from the Lie Detectors and get first-hand experience on the topic of “Teaching critical thinking: tackling polarisation and keeping curiosity”
- acquired knowledge how to apply for a Erasmus+ school mobility project
- learnt how to start a virtual project on the eTwinning platform
- could be connected to teachers in other programme countries with similar interests who could be partners in future projects
