“Erasmus + green mobility + green schools” A European Conference on Climate protection and Sustainability in School Education

Summary of TCA outcomes

At the European conference "Erasmus + green mobility + green schools", 210 representatives of the school sector from 23 participating countries informed themselves, exchanged ideas and discussed how sustainable education can be realised in schools. During the workshops and exhibition 57 projects on environmental and climate protection were presented. These projects highlighted the important contribution that project work makes to raising students' awareness of environmental issues and finally to supporting the Green Deal to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
Both Marta Gutierrez-Benet, Head of Sector for Erasmus+ implementation, European Commission, and Prof. Dr. Matthias Barth, Head of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, underlined the importance of environment-related project work for the implementation of sustainable education in schools.
During the conference we aimed at a mix of theory and praxis, please find our programme uploaded and under this link you will find the documentation of the conference with the presentations in the plenary and in the workshop sessions.
After the conference we sent a feedback-link to all participants. The participation survey showed a high level of satisfaction among the participants. One criticism was that the food offered was too meat-heavy. We took this as an opportunity to offer only a vegetarian buffet at future events.

Conference participants:
- received pedagogical ideas for the classroom
- learnt from Erasmus+ best practice projects in the field of sustainability and developed ideas for projects on this topic
- acquired knowledge how to apply for a Erasmus+ school mobility project
- learnt how to start a virtual project on the eTwinning platform
- could be connected to teachers in other programme countries with similar interests who could be partners in future projects
- understand what makes a good quality project (concepts for learning mobility and blended mobility, thematic cooperation projects on the eTwinning-platform)
