Cristina Bacalso is an independent research consultant who specialises in public policies for adolescent and youth development, youth participation, and the human rights of young people. With over 20 years of experience in research, policy, and advocacy with and on youth, she is currently the Youth Policy and Youth Development Researcher for UNICEF Europe and Central Asia region. She is also completing a research fellowship on digital youth work and inclusion with the University of Leeds, as Research Lead for the Digital Youth Work Research Hub. Cristina\\\'s previous work includes research with UNICEF Innocenti, UNDP, the Council of Europe, the European Commission, European Youth Forum, and Youth Policy Labs, where she was the Research Coordinator. From 2017-2025, she was a member of the European Commission - Council of Europe Pool of European Youth Researchers, and in its last year, part of its Advisory Group. Originally from Canada, Cristina is based in Berlin, Germany.
