Digital transformation in VET: towards concrete implementation through Erasmus+ projects
Main Info
TCA Description
The Digital Education Action Plan, adopted by the European Commission in 2020, has two main strategic priorities: developing a high-performance digital education ecosystem and improving digital skills and competences for digital transformation.
Erasmus+ Programme plays a key role in the implementation of this strategy, addressing the digital transition with all the different activities supported, from mobility to cooperation between organisations and institutions and policy development.
It’s therefore essential that the main target groups of the Programme fully understand how to concretely work on this priority at project and organisational level, making use of the wide range of resources developed at European level to support them in contributing to the digital transition.
The TCA, focused on the VET sector, addresses VET experts, educators and professionals with the aim to support them on how concretely and wisely embrace the digital transition at project and organisational level, while understanding and addressing potential risks, in particular digital divide and possible exclusion of vulnerable target groups.
Furthermore, the seminar aims to encourage participants to change the way they look at the priorities of the Programme: no longer as stand-alone themes but as interconnected paths to be addressed with an overall strategy. In particular, it will be highlighted how effectively investing in digital transition can bring enormous benefits in terms of inclusive education, green transition and participation in democratic life.
Participants will:
- acquire a better understanding of the digital transformation topic and its connection with other Erasmus+ priorities.
- get insights from experts and practitioners on the most burning topics connected to digital transformation in education (e.g. digital pedagogy, digital inclusion, impact of disruptive technologies as Artificial intelligence)
- understand how to develop effective project proposals focused on digital transformation.
- exchange good practices and experiences with colleagues and experts.

Long-term Activity Info
The digital modernization of education & training systems represents an area of particular interest in light of the technological changes underway and the challenges opened up by the globalization of systems and, most recently, by the health emergency connected to the spread of Covid-19.
In this perspective, the Italian Erasmus+ National Agency for the VET field planned the implementation of a cooperation initiative involving Erasmus+ National Agencies to share experiences on the digital transformation triggered by Strategic Partnership (KA2) projects, in line with the provisions of the Digital Education Action Plan.
The LTA "Digital transformation in VET" has the goals to enhance the contribution of the Erasmus+ Programme to the digital transformation priority, maximizing the visibility of what has been achieved on the topic, while guiding the implementation of ongoing KA2 projects through a useful cross-fertilization between finalised projects in the field and ongoing KA2 projects on the topic.
- Networking among NAs to compare the methodologies and analysis tools developed and / or under development and used by NAs to analyze the contribution of the KA2 Strategic Partnership projects of the2014-2020 Programme to the EC strategies for transformation of digital education and training systems
- Desk survey of the KA2 Strategic Partnership experiences of the 2014-2020 Programme
- Carrying out a survey to explore the Programme's contribution to the digital transformation of Education & Training systems
- making the results of the survey available to the EC and the other NAs;
- sharing the results with the beneficiaries of the KA2 projects and with the potential beneficiaries so that they can better direct the implementation and design of proposals in line with the relevant policies and the needs identified by the survey (in the perspective of making the most of the opportunities of the Programme, avoiding overlaps between the activities of different project experiences.
.
- Better knowledge of the Erasmus+ contribution to the digital transformation of Education and Training systems;
- Better visibility of what has been achieved by Erasmus+in the field of digitalisation
- Enhanced capacity to guide the implementation of ongoing experiences through a useful cross-fertilisation between concluded experiences and ongoing projects on this subject
- Inspiration for potential beneficiaries to effectively exploit the opportunities offered by the Programme, starting from what has already been achieved in order to respond to the needs and challenges posed by digital in terms of new training and teaching strategies and innovative models and tools, in line with the evolution of technology
