Green Erasmus: A contribution to Europe’s green transition?!
Summary of TCA outcomes
- Over half of respondents (52.94%) stated that the TCA made a significant or strong contribution to raising awareness and understanding of the horizontal priority on environment and climate change.
- Methodology: Nearly all program elements were rated as particularly relevant for understanding the topic. Specific mentions included: input from the National Agency, city tour, the project "journey", VERDIR (Salto Green activity), and the excursion to the biosphere reserve. Only one participant noted that no new methods or information were provided. This quote illustrates the appreciation for the diverse methods and content: “I really appreciate the professional organization, the professional content and the possibility of interactive work, which contributed to a deeper understanding of the topic. TCA helped me a lot to better understand how to systematically and effectively integrate sustainability into Erasmus+ projects. The explanations of the GreenComp framework and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and practical examples of working with sustainability competences were very valuable. I had the opportunity to compare the approaches of other schools and organizations and to verify how some solutions could be applied in my environment.”
- The majority of participants reported gaining new ideas for future projects. A smaller group did not take away specific project ideas but still felt inspired.
- Most participants recognized the wide range of available tools and methods related to Green Erasmus. However, they emphasized that these need to be better known and tailored to the specific needs of individual institutions.
- Event organization, venue, and supporting program were rated as very good or good by most respondents.
- Overall assessment of the program and organization: The TCA was described by most participants as excellent, well-structured, and thoughtfully designed, with a good balance of professional content, social activities, and excursions. Several participants expressed thanks to the organizer.
- Sustainable event management: The majority rated the event as sustainable, though participants noted that sustainability aspects could have been highlighted more explicitly during the seminar. In particular, limitations regarding the provision of vegetarian food at the hotel were not sufficiently communicated.
Conclusion
- The TCA was a clear success. Challenges such as the absence of the chief organizer (sustainability officer) and cancellation of the expert input on Day 3 were well managed through solid preparation, transparent communication, and the flexibility of the on-site team.
