Women in STEM: Driving Change in Higher Education
Main Info
TCA Description
This TCA seminar invites representatives of higher education institutions, Erasmus+ practitioners, and institutional stakeholders from Erasmus+ Programme Countries to explore how universities and faculties can actively contribute to increasing the participation, visibility, and long-term success of women and girls in STEM fields in line with the objectives of the European Commission’s Union of Skills initiative.
Through interactive workshops, peer learning, inspirational sessions, networking activities, and exchange of practices, participants will reflect on how to create more inclusive, supportive, and attractive STEM learning environments. The seminar will focus on both institutional approaches and practical initiatives that encourage women and girls to engage in STEM education and careers, while supporting higher education institutions in becoming active drivers of systemic change.
The seminar will address topics such as:
- initiatives and programmes supporting girls and women in STEM from the early age
- inclusive institutional cultures and gender equality strategies
- cooperation between universities, companies, NGOs, and other stakeholders
- promotion and visibility of female role models in science and technology
By the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:
- understand current challenges, barriers, trends, and opportunities related to women’s participation and inclusion in STEM fields within higher education;
- reflect on their institution’s current practices and identify concrete opportunities for creating more inclusive and supportive STEM environments;
- reflect on how higher education institutions can foster inclusive academic environments through policies, mentoring initiatives, cooperation models, and institutional culture;
- align future institutional actions with broader European priorities related to inclusion, participation, equal opportunities, and long-term institutional change in higher education.
- draw inspiration from successful good practice examples (Slovak projects and from participating institution within their own higher education contexts)
