Multilingual and multicultural classrooms – a resource, not an obstacle
Main Info
TCA Description
In accordance with identified multiannual priority topics, foreign language teaching and learning and development of key competencies, and inclusion and diversity E+ priority, the NA will organise a 2-day international TCA event on the topic of multilingualism and multiculturalism at school/university. It will focus on the importance of valuing all languages and cultures present in the classroom and supporting multilingualism across the curriculum, in particular through CLIL.
The aim of this thematic and contact seminar will be to raise teachers'/educators’ awareness of the value of multilingualism for all and support them in exploring ways to integrate it into their practice. It will highlight the importance of collaboration between language and non-language teachers in implementing CLIL lessons. Participants will explore new cooperation opportunities, network and connect with potential project partners (Erasmus+, eTwinning).
- Learn about relevant methodologies to promote and support all languages present in the classroom. Develop teacher/educator skills on how to integrate languages and other subjects (CLIL). Reflect on challenges in a multilingual and multicultural classroom and how to address them.
- Meet other teachers/educators and share practices and strategies for supporting multilingual students. Connect with other European schools/universities with the aim of designing and implementing joint international projects.
- Get new ideas and discover useful resources for implementing multilingual and multicultural practices in your classroom.
- Discover how Erasmus+ can provide professional development and mobility opportunities to help teachers/educators.
The event will be designed for 40 participants – teachers in school education, VET and adult education, as well as higher education staff working in initial teacher education. Applications should be submitted through SALTO form.
