Study visits: “Promotion of VET and increasing its attractiveness through skills competitions – Finnish experiences”

Aim: exchange of experience in the area of promoting skills; support to VET beneficiaries to increase their participation in skills competitions, promotion of WorldSkills occupational standards and exchange of best practices regarding inreasing attractiveness of VET. Participants will have possibility to attend Taitaja 2024 and to attend International seminar Artificial Intelligence – Perspectives, Legislation, Recommendations, and Ethical Responsibility in Teaching and Education. The seminar will be held on Wednesday 22nd of May from 9:00 to 12:00 in Kampussydän, in Savonia University of Applied Sciences. The seminar will be followed by a networking lunch and a guided tour on competition site until 15:00.
Taitaja Competition is the largest annual vocational education event in Finland that attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. The competition for the Finnish championship includes 50 skills and almost 400 competitors. In May 2024 the competition is organised in Kuopio by Savo Vocational College.
The main purposes of Taitaja Competition are to promote vocational education and training (VET), improve co-operation among companies and vocational education organisations, and to increase the awareness and appreciation of various occupations and professional skills.
The competition event can be visited free of charge. The opening hours are Tuesday 21st of May from 8:00 to 17:00, Wednesday 22nd from 8:00 to 17:00, and Thursday 23rd from 8:00 to 12:00.
The opening and closing ceremonies are open to the public and free of charge. The opening ceremony will be held on Monday 20th from 14:00 to 15:00 in Olvi Areena, and the closing ceremony will be held in the same venue on Thursday 23rd from 14:30 to 16:00.

Participants will broaden their knowledge concerning national skills competitions, promotion of VET
thorough Skills competition, increase their participation in E+ VET mobilities by attending skills
competitions. The expected results will be more applications to KA2 regarding Skills competitions.
The Organiser NA will be responsible for selection of participants and for making registration for attendance,
