Music Across Borders: Building Sustainable Partnerships in Higher Music Education
Main Info
TCA Description
The IT02 NA (INDIRE) is organizing a TCA in Milan with the aims to strengthen the involvement of conservatories in Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships, Erasmus Mundus, Capacity Building andAlliances promoting active engagement in international cooperation projects within the Higher Education sector.
Although these institutions have a strong potential for innovation and interdisciplinarity, they often face challenges related to project design, partnership development, and strategic internationalization. Addressing these gaps is essential to ensure a more inclusive and diverse participation in the Erasmus+ Programme.
The TCA will therefore focus on raising awareness and building capacity on Erasmus+ opportunities, highlighting their role as key instruments for fostering innovation and addressing major European priorities, including digital transformation, inclusion, sustainability, and cultural development.
The activity will provide participants with a structured environment to gain a clearer understanding of the Erasmus+ projects framework, exchange good practices and experiences, discuss common challenges, and explore potential project ideas in the field of music and education. Emphasis will be placed on active participation, ensuring that all participants can contribute to and benefit from the collective knowledge and experience of the group.
The objective of the TCA is to boost opportunities for cooperation among participating organizations, institutions and participants to help them better design Erasmus+ projects (cooperation partnership, Erasmus Mundus, Capacity Building, Alliances) on the promotion and strengthening of the European higher music education sector.
This objective will be achieved through a twofold approach:
Networking: from a networking perspective, participants will have the opportunity to establish new contacts and strengthen connections with peers from the music and arts education sector. The exchange of experience and good practices will facilitate the identification of potential partners for future projects and contribute to building long-term transnational cooperation links.
Learning outcomes: Sessions will be delivered by thematic experts and representatives of the participating organizations, who will present relevant good practices and provide in-depth insights into key aspects of Erasmus+ project management, including project design, budgeting, and evaluation of results.
Building on this knowledge base, the TCA will adopt a “learning by doing” approach, supported by participatory methodologies such as group discussions, bar camps, and practical exercises. This will enable participants to actively engage in the learning process and to exchange perspectives, doubts, challenges, and expectations related to international cooperation.
The activity will then move towards a more concrete experimentation phase, where participants will take part in parallel working groups aimed at fostering collaboration and supporting the co-development of new project ideas and potential initiatives within the music and arts education sector.
As a result, participants will enhance their competences in project development and gain practical insights into the design of Cooperation Partnerships
The event will take place in Milan over four days and will bring together representatives from the Italian National Agency Erasmus+ INDIRE, EAC, and EACEA, as well as experts in the field of music and education.
Hosted at the Conservatory of Milan, the event will combine working sessions with networking and cultural moments, including the opportunity to attend a concert performed by the Erasmus Orchestra.
