Rural Inclusion in Erasmus+
Main Info
TCA Description
Iceland is a rural country from from two perspectives, both on a European standard being located far from the mainland, and also on a national level as a majority of the country's towns and cities are located in remote areas in the country. However, these rural and remote areas have managed to succeed very well in the Erasmus+ programme as there are numerous schools and organisations around the country that have created good projects under those circumstances and have represented the programme well.
In this contact seminar, the plan is to investigate the benefits of the programme to remote areas and municipalities and to introduce and exchange good practices from experienced program managers.
A more detailed description of the activities will follow later.
Participants are expected to gain knowledge on the Erasmus+ programme and discover its opportunities and benefits to remote areas. Furthermore, they are expected to form cooperational partnerships or to otherwise create a connection with other rural schools, municipalities and organisations in the school sector.
The contact seminar will be held in Akureyri, which is a medium-sized town located in the north of Iceland. The Icelandic NA will provide domestic flights for all participants from Reykjavik to Akureyri on Tuesday November 1st and then from Akureyri to Reykjavik on November 3rd. Furthermore, an accommodation for a total of three nights will be provided, two in Akureyri and one in Reykjavik.
The time schedule is as follows:
Nov. 1: Arrival to Iceland. Participants must travel to Reykjavik in time to reach a domestic flight to Akureyri around 18:00.
Nov 3: Departure from Akureyri to Reykjavik. Expected landing in Reykjavik around 17:00. A bus will take participants to their hotel in Reykjavik.
Nov 4: Departure from Iceland.
