TCA Description

Themes and goals:

This international networking event focuses on skill and competence development, especially through Erasmus+ programmes. On the one hand, it highlights what competences are required by the labour market in the 21th century; on the other hand, it emphasizes what competences and skills are developed through VET Erasmus+ projects. Regarding the latter goal, it has a research-based approach. The event aims to foster first how suitable competences are changing and what skills VET students are needed to be successful either in the labour market or in higher education. Secondly, the TCA intends to promote the understanding of how Erasmus+ projects develop VET students and teachers’ competences, regarding their professional, linguistic, transversal, intercultural, and digital skills. Thirdly, the event is to strengthen cooperation and provide opportunities to exchange and share knowledge and experience, fostering dialogue between the leaders and/or teachers at VET schools, as well as policy makers from different countries.

The primary purpose of the meeting is to discuss necessary new competences generated by the accelerated speed of change in society and labour market, and how education, both teachers and students, could accommodate recent circumstances and enhance required competences. We dispute new suitable skills and their development through keynote speeches, panel discussion, as well as workshop sessions.

The secondary purpose of the networking event is to examine the role of Erasmus+ programme in the process of adaptation. We present the research results both on national and international basis that focus on the impact of the activities implemented in Erasmus+ programme on VET students and teachers’ competences from various aspects. We present results of some research that has been conducted in the last few years and measured competence development in close connection with participating in Erasmus+ projects.

The tertiary purpose of the networking event is to discuss the research results and draw conclusions by them on the impact of Erasmus+ programme, such as

1) which competence development could significantly be detected;

2) how Erasmus+ projects could be planned to maximize competence development of participants;

3) how competence growth could support students and teachers’ career pathways.

The key objective of the meeting is to review raise awareness on the suitable new competences, summarize research outcomes, and turn them into developing higher-level competences in VET schools.

Our goal is to provide opportunities for participants, through structured discussions and networking sessions, to establish valuable connections, enhancing long-term collaborations and impactful partnerships.

Expected results:
  1. Review the list of new competences that are required in the 21th century and recognize how students and teachers should develop their competences, from boarder point of view, to meet the new challenges and adapt to the changing world.

  1. Identify what students’ competences and skills could be developed through international, especially Erasmus+ programme and to what extent these competences are increased. Raise awareness on how competences needed by the labour market are developed through international programmes.

  1. Prepare a list of competences and skills, the development of which Erasmus+ programme significantly contributes. Collect some school best practices that foster the development of skills and competences in order to increase the efficiency of Erasmus+ programme, as well as maintain or even raise students’ competence level after returning from international programmes.

Additional information:
