TCA Description

Themes and goals:

This seminar aims to deal with bridging the gap between the Education Sector and the Industry

Objectives:

•    To examine the role of higher education institutions (levels 5 and 6) in collaboration with VET education and the labor market to bridge the gap between the skills required by employers and those possessed by graduates.

•    To facilitate the collaboration between VET providers, universities, and industry representatives, fostering partnerships and initiatives to enhance the alignment of skills with market needs.

•    To explore the contribution of the Erasmus+ programme in supporting efforts to bridge the gap between educational outcomes and the rapidly evolving demands of the modern labor market.

The current landscape reveals a significant skill mismatch between the education sector and industry, where many graduates lack the specific competencies and practical experience demanded by employers. Rapid advancements in technology and changing industry needs have outpaced traditional educational curricula, leading to a gap between the skills taught in educational institutions and those required in the workforce. This disconnect has resulted in increased unemployment rates among graduates and challenges for employers in finding adequately skilled workers to fill specialized roles. Addressing this mismatch is crucial for economic growth and ensuring that education systems remain responsive to the evolving needs of the labor market.

This Training Activity aims to explore the critical role of higher education institutions in collaborating with vocational education and training (VET) providers and the labor market to address the skills mismatch graduates face. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss effective partnerships between academia and industry, innovative approaches to curriculum design, and the importance of continuous feedback loops between educators and employers to create a workforce that is well-prepared for the challenges of the modern economy.
