Artificial intelligence is transforming education systems, pedagogical practices, and organisational development across Europe. At the same time, education providers are facing increasing needs to strengthen digital competences, support AI literacy, and develop sustainable approaches for integrating AI into teaching, learning, and educational leadership.
This thematic TCA event brings together representatives of education providers’ leadership, management and pedagogical developers from the School Education (SE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sectors to explore how AI and digital pedagogy can support systemic change in education.
The seminar focuses on the transition from policy discussions to more practical framework implementation. Through keynote speeches, workshops, panel discussions, and facilitated networking, participants will explore:
- digital pedagogy as a systemic transformation in education,
- national policies and future perspectives related to AI in education systems,
- digital pedagogy in the age of AI,
- change management and organisational support for AI uptake,
- curriculum development and AI skills integration,
- AI literacy and AI skills in education.
The event aims to strengthen participants’ understanding of strategic and pedagogically meaningful uses of AI while supporting European exchange and peer learning between the SE and VET sectors. The programme includes both joint sessions for all participants and sector-specific sessions for SE and VET participants separately, allowing opportunities for cross-sectoral exchange as well as discussions tailored to the specific needs and contexts of each sector.
NB! This TCA is part of the Erasmus+ LTA 2025–2027 “Digital Pedagogy in the Age of AI,” coordinated by the Estonian NA. Priority will be given to participants from countries involved in the LTA.
By the end of the activity, participants will be able to:
- compare European perspectives on AI in education, using case examples from Finland, Estonia and the Netherlands;
- explain how AI and digital pedagogy can support education systems, organisational development,
- describe ways to integrate AI into curriculum development;
- describe how AI literacy, AI skills and digital competences can be strengthened in school education and VET;
- identify conditions and change management needs for responsible, sustainable and pedagogically meaningful AI uptake;
- exchange experiences and practices with peers from across Europe;
- identify Erasmus+ and AI-related opportunities for cooperation between SE and VET actors.
This TCA aims to support systemic approaches to digital transformation by strengthening educator agency and professional dialogue around AI in education.
This TCA is intended for participants from the School Education (SE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sectors with the following profiles:
- Representatives of education providers’ leadership and management,
- Pedagogical developers.
Paired participation from the same organisation is encouraged where possible, for example
- Management representative and
- Pedagogical developer
The event is particularly relevant for persons currently involved and working with digital pedagogy, AI in education, organisational development, and strategic approaches to digital transformation.
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) is not within the scope of this TCA.
During the seminar the Erasmus+ National Agency of Finland covers accommodation for 2 nights and meals in the seminar programme.

Long-term Activity Info
The aim of the LTA "Digital Pedagogy in the Age of AI" is to support the development of digital competences and the purposeful and methodical use of digital tools, learning materials, and content in teaching and learning within the School Education (SCH) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sectors. Additionally, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, this LTA seeks to equip education leaders and teachers in SCH and VET with the knowledge and skills to integrate AI-driven solution effectively and ethically into teaching and learning. Building on previous LTAs, this initiative seeks to create a structured, evidence-driven approach to digital pedagogy and AI in quality TCAs through strong collaboration among participating National Agencies (NAs).
On the SCH and VET sector level:
Raising awareness and fostering digital competences among educators remains a challenge, as individualized learning pathways require tailored support. The development and sustainability of a high-quality digital education ecosystem need stronger leadership and systemic transformation efforts in SCH and VET institutions. It is critical to address the gap in digital skills and access to technology to ensure equal learning opportunities, but it is equally important to acknowledge that institutions or local governments may not have the resources needed for closing these gaps. Additionally, ensuring digital well-being and tackling disinformation remain ongoing sector-wide concerns.
On LTA management level:
Foster stronger cooperation among National Agencies to drive digital transition within Erasmus+. Enhance collaboration among participating NAs to effectively leverage existing research and resources, improve coordination in organizing TCAs.
In 2025:
12-14 March – a face-to-face partners’ kick-off meeting in Tallinn.
A desk research analysis of the current state of digital pedagogy and AI in Erasmus+ programs, utilizing various data sources—including the three existing Long-Term Activities (LTAs)—to assess their findings and document best practices within Erasmus+ and other national programs.
10-12 December – Thematic seminar on Blended Mobility for SCH and VET KA1 Beneficiaries. How to seamlessly combine physical mobility and virtual learning for a more impactful learning experience. Learning from best practices.
Activities 2026-2027: dissemination of research results, webinars in cooperation with eTwinning and EITA, 8 TCAs and a final conference.
- Improved quality of Erasmus+ projects on digital pedagogy and AI.
- Mainstreaming of best practices in digital pedagogy and AI and wider use of Erasmus+ project results.
- Insights from a comprehensive analysis of digital pedagogy and AI in Erasmus+ programs inform best practices and guide future improvements across initiatives.
- Targeted support for National Agencies through TCAs, focusing on capacity building, resource sharing, and practical guidance.
- Stronger collaboration among participating National Agencies to effectively leverage existing research and resources, improve coordination in organizing TCAs.
